university of alabama @ birmingham

yesterday was my very first college tour! it's hard to believe that i'm already in the second semester of junior year. i decided to check out UAB because of it's early med school acceptance program. the dorms are very nice (suite-style!) as well as the rec center and classrooms, and it seems like a great school. however, i wasn't a huge fan of it's location in downtown birmingham or the overall campus atmosphere. i forgot to take pictures but here's what the campus looks like.

Pros:
  • EMSAP program
  • UAB's hospital is on campus (for internships and shadowing!)
  • underclassmen can dissect cadavers- awesome.
  • close to home
  • in the South
  • easy to get into
  • good scholarships
  • AMAZING dorms (no community showers)
  • honors programs
  • really nice rec center with saunas and a three story rock climbing wall

Cons:
  • the campus is a little small
  • downtown Birmingham location
  • if i go to med school there, i will be at UAB for 8 years & it would get boring
  • sports aren't huge
  • greek life is there but it isn't big
  • a little too close to my family
  • campus doesn't have charm

hey y'all!

i've always wanted to start a blog, so here i am! as a high school junior, my life is starting to get hectic. i think this blog will be a great way to document my last two years of high school and my search for colleges. i am crazy about preppy style- hence the blog title, so i would love to blog about that as well. welcome :)
